The Vulgar Era
Happy Sunday. The past couple days have been spent consulting with spiritual healers and witch doctors who aimed to cure me of my wicked illness. After being given a magical potion that was supposed to completely heal me, I've found myself with a newfound sense of energy, mental clarity, and physical well-being. Which means it's time for a return to blogging in a big way. To the point, of course, where I'm doing something I never do- post on a Sunday. The great news is that this post is well worth your time. One thing people may not officially know about me is that I am a HUGE Queens of the Stone Age fan. Josh Homme could do just about anything and I'd be overall very satisfied with it. "Songs for the Deaf" was even my favorite album of 2002. Yes, it was a little disappointing when Nick Oliveri left the band, and yes, QOTSA are still struggling a little bit to regain some sense of composure after "Lullabies to Paralyze," but I've got a great feeling about the band's upcoming album "Era Vulgaris." June 12th is going to be the hot release date for that, and needless to say my excitement for it is palpable.
Among other things, Josh Homme did some recording with Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) and Trent Reznor (NIN) for the album, which gets me even more excited. Then I read Josh's interview with Pitchfork last Friday.
Here's his direct quote from that interview:
"Trent's on the title track, which isn't even on the record."
Pitchfork: How is that going to come out?
"It's going to come out in other ways. Yeah, it's just going to come out in other ways."
...And with that, my friends, I'm proud to present to you-
ERA VULGARIS (the song) ft. Trent Reznor
This represents what I've come to love about QOTSA, and proves (at least to me) that Josh Homme is still a master of his craft. Yeah, there's not nearly enough Trent on this song, but it's just nice to hear the guy's voice mixed in there. Enjoy!

Might as well take a look here.
And hey, why not visit the revamped QOTSA site while you're at it?

There
awesome - how'd you get this?
I found it on a USB drive on the floor of a bathroom at a QOTSA show.
Just kidding.
No, in reality I had to kill one of the band's roadies and snatch it off of his dead corpse.
Oh wait. That wasn't it either.
Let's just settle on the fact that I had to do some disgusting things to get my hands on this.
Yeah, awesome!!
Thanks for posting!
This song was widely distributed and is available for free loads of places. Dont get me wrong, glad to see it here and spreading - but I just think you need to take a step down off yer "i got it via hush hush means" horse. Otherwise, cheers. The new album will indeed slay yer brain in half.
Well, NOW the song is widely distributed.
The reason I posted it originally was because I couldn't find it anywhere else, and thought, "hey, maybe people would like to have easy access to this song."
So yeah, it's spread like wildfire since I threw it out there. Pardon me for getting onto any sort of "horse" with the intention of helping people out.
And by the way, in regards to what I said in my last comment...apparently it's getting more and more difficult to interpret SARCASM these days. Gosh!
The way that people originally received this track was through a contest that QoTSA held. The winners all received a CD with the track on it and were INSTRUCTED to spread the track any way possible.
Visit the official QoTSA message board for more info, but please do a search and don't ask...because people will get really mad...
