Live Friday: 3-07-08

With all the hoopla this week surrounding the surprise release of the Nine Inch Nails instrumental album(s) titled "Ghosts I-IV," plus the near-certain assessment that both Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails would be headliners at this year's Lollapalooza, I felt like today would be a good time to post some live NIN material. I have the actual live CD "And All That Could Have Been" that Trent Reznor released a few years back, and also some audio rips of the couple NIN live DVDs that have been released, but instead of spending a few weeks posting bits and pieces of one NIN show, I thought it'd be easier and more fascinating if I just gave you a few songs that Trent performed with Peter Murphy of Bauhaus and TV on the Radio back in 2006 when they all toured together. See, the three parties would get together and perform short "pre-shows" for select VIP persons (i.e. mostly radio station contest winners) and they'd cover each other's songs. It was cool, cool stuff.

So I'm not going to stretch this out for another week and give you every track they performed together, but rather just give you a taste of what they did during that 2006 tour. Here's three tracks, the originals each done by one of the artists but here performed in collaboration with the others. It's great fun, entertaining and a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing.

Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy- Head Like A Hole (NIN song)
Trent Reznor, Peter Murphy and TV on the Radio- Dreams (TV on the Radio song)
Trent Reznor, Peter Murphy and TV on the Radio- Bela Lugosi's Dead (Bauhaus song)

Great stuff as always. I know you said you didn't want to go overboard, but you don't have their cover of Pere Ubu's Final Solution by any chance do you? I can't find it anywhere!
